DOGEPY · HOUSE RULES
Yutnori shortcuts, stacks and captures
Bring all four tokens home. A shortcut activates on a move starting at its junction, not while passing through it.
Before you play
- Do/Gae/Geol/Yut/Mo move 1/2/3/4/5 spaces.
- Yut, Mo or capturing an opponent grants another throw after moving.
- Starting forward movement at a branching junction automatically takes its shortcut.
- Back-do moves one space back; waiting tokens and tokens on the first space stay put. Finished tokens stay home.
- Bring all four tokens home. Overshooting the remaining distance also finishes.
Playing a hand
- Throw and then select a token to move.
- Start a waiting token or advance one already on the board.
- Landing on an opponent returns their tokens there to the waiting area.
- Solo play offers a stacking choice when friendly tokens meet. A stack moves together but risks capture together.
A worked play example
- Gae from corner 5 → two diagonal steps
- Gae from outer 4 → outer 6
- Yut or capture → throw again after moving
Stopping at a corner matters
Starting at the upper-right corner, space five, a Gae takes two diagonal steps. Starting at outer space four, a Gae passes the corner and ends at outer space six instead.
At the center, the entry route and whether you stopped affect the onward path. Use the destination preview rather than assuming the visually shortest route.
Shared progress means shared risk
Two stacked tokens advance on one throw but both return to waiting if captured. Online play moves only the selected token even when tokens are drawn together at one location; the solo stacking choice is not implemented there.
Capturing with a Yut does not bank two extra throws; it gives the next throw. Compare the chance to capture with the risk to an advanced stack.
